Hi,
Can someone educate me will i gain or loss anything for visible lights imaging (for micro stacking with external flash light) using Mitutoyo M Plan NUV (or NIR) vs the conventional M Plan APO ie., 10X, 20X and 50X.

I do not recall that anybody has run tests head-to-head for these lens.
However there is a discussion at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 6677#86677 that addresses the question from general principles. The conclusion is that the NUV and NIR lenses will behave more like achromats, not apochromats, in the visible range. That is, the correction for color aberrations is expected to be not as good.

The idea that an apochromat is corrected at only three wavelengths is obsolete or at least too generally applied here.rjlittlefield wrote: . . . . .

Similar information is available from Olympus, Zeiss, and Nikon. Zeiss claims correction at "up to seven wavelengths"."4-2. M Plan NIR Series / LCD Plan NIR Series

jin, you'd loose some resolution due to the smaller apertures of the UV/IR versions but you don't need to worry about chromatic aberrations any more that you do with Mitutoyo's non UV/IR lenses.
