I was still contemplating about this lens when I found another review that showed what noone else showed - lens performance at medium focusing distance, and the distortion it produces: http://regex.info/blog/2015-02-26/2530

I assume it is not so much of a problem at higher magnification, is it?

I've been using the lens for most of my walkaround and handheld macro shots in my yard, and I really like it as a multi-purpose 60mm lens that can go to 2:1 at the flick of your wrist. Color rendition for flower and bug shots is superb. Haven't noticed the distortion mentioned but it is not at all surprising. I saw significant distortion at 2:1 as well, which is not really shown in the linked review, though there is a fair amount of vignetting. For most macro work, with focus on a central subject, the corner /edge distortions make no difference. Overall it is a lens that you either want/need and can put up with its limitations, or not.
