Another Background Situation

Post by Ken Ramos »

Wim was commenting on his backgrounds and how they can sometimes be distracting. While out shooting around the back of the house, I came across this Harvestman resting on a weed. It did not dawn on me at first but I realized that I had two choices of backgrounds. One with the usual leafy green foliage to try and be softly diffused in the background or a more even and brightly lit background that was the limestone gravel on the road beside my house. I chose the limestone gravel road. Now this background may not be of taste to some but I rather liked it. So, by just slightly changing the angle of the camera on the subject, it produced the desired background. :D

I think the background is Ok in this shot Ken. I tend to look at the subject first no matter what. This harvestmen looks like it has one eye

I like it. I think this type of background shows the environment and unless I really have to hunt for the subject, it does not bother me.

Background clutter, like in radar, can mask a lot of things I have noticed. Thanks Sue :D

That looks very nice! It is a bit like a clear sky! It combines very well with the green leaves. The more natural it looks, the better!
