These , and your other insect shots are really spectacular. I would be very interested to know how you are making them. I guess you are using a microscope for focusing and support of the specimen, but what optics are you using? Are you using conventional or epi objectives and what form of illumination? Do you think your setup is a good alternative to separate stand alone stacking rigs for microscope owners?

Thanks Jacek. Congratulations. It looks like a really simple solution which still gives excellent results. I do have a couple of other questions though. How are you fixing the insect specimen on the stage? It doesn't look like it's on a slide. Also what arrangement do you have under the stage? It doesn't look like an ordinary condenser. Is it to minimise stray light? I see some coloured filters for background, where do they fit? I see you are using afocal coupling with a compact camera which gives great results in your hands. How are you following the stack though? Through the camera LCD or just counting ticks on the fine focus. I hope you at least have an IR remote release for the camera otherwise if you are doing it just with the self timer that must be real hard work!
