This is very nice! :D :smt023
I don't know about ID but think I've captured it!
By the way, your avatar is too big in my opinion.
OK, you've corrected it, very fast! 8)

I have no idea about ID, but I'm fascinated by that third picture. Those water drops on the eyes are great! :D

Don't have a clue myself as to the identification of that beast but I have to agree with Rik, that last image is great with the water drops on the eyes. :smt023

The first two are wonderful but #3 is incredible. What a great headshot. Erland will probably know what it is

Tnx all...i think it's Orthetrum cancellatum, female. Can anyone confirm that?

Think you are correct teva, "Googling" seems to confirm it:-

The male is obviously blue.

The third picture is great! wonder what sort of picture it gets wearing all those contact lenses?

Excellent photos. Always a pleasure to be able to see dragonflies perched in the cold morning, covered with water drops.

You have got the genus right, it's an Orthetrum, but not cancellatum. It must be an immature male Orthetrum coerulescens (Keeled Skimmer). The best clues are the very uniform coloured thorax, and the black cross-stripes on the abdomen.

cheers Erland

Actually those water drops are serving as additional magnifiers. You can see more details of the eye on the places where they are settled. Looks like a bee hives structure. :D
