Any of you folks out there have an opinion on the Nikon 610 for macro
photography?

It would be helpful to know a few more details your requirements. What lenses do you intend to use? What sizes and types of subjects do you plan to shoot (your mantis images come to mind)? What camera body are you using currently--and what do you find limiting with it?
Do you want or need the full frame format in this camera? If so, do you have a reason to prefer the D610 against the d800 or D800e? (Lower cost and smaller output files come to mind, but these might or might not be important to you.)
