i took the microscope to the lab (its under warranty) it appears the camera tube center and axis and the eyepiece center and axis were shifted and at an angle to one another.
this explains why with an eyepiece in both tubes the image looked the same
i concentrated on small features and tried to make them as sharp as possible
this is possible in both tubes.
when i took an image with a camera the image from the eyepiece was better because more features were in the same focus plane, in the camera tube only a small part of the features were in the focus plane.
also i think that different colors were focused on different planes because of the axis shift.
the scope should be ready in a few days and i can verify it solved the problem.
