Body length about 9 mm. Species ID is Poecilochroa montana, a.k.a. Sergiolus montanus, according to Rod Crawford of the Burke Museum in Seattle.

Photographed live but captive. Therein lies another story, but not tonight...

Technical: Handheld stack, 18 frames, ZS DMap, Canon T1i with Canon 100 mm f/2.8L IS USM macro lens at f/8, Canon 580EX II flash ETTL with Opteka diffuser. Slight crop, subject body length 9 mm.
