I found the regulations on reproduction of Euro banknotes, which this doesn't appear to break.
When I went for copyright infringement information though, I got bogged down in 19 pages of references. What else should I have expected?!

I am not a lawyer.

However I think I'm right in saying there is no law in the UK preventing the photography of currency, particularly tiny sections of. Neither is it against the law to post such images on the net. You will likely run into trouble if you try to sell/license such images commercially.
