Thanks to all for commenting. This has been a great learning experience for me.

Pierre, I give thanks to morfa for informing me about that lens. He posted such a great review (HERE) that I immediately bought one too. It was an astonishingly good deal considering the image quality and long working distance. They turn up from time to time on eBay, but the price is higher now.
