Precise Z-axis adjustment in the field?

Post by nielsgeode »

Is there any equipment available that allows you to precisely adjust the height of the camera when it is mounted on a tripod? Sometimes, this would be really nice when doing macrophotography in the field... :D

Hallo Niels,
I use something similair to this: http://www.cameranu.nl/nl/statieven-en- ... 624_145744
Not very useful for extreme macro but for low mag 1:1 stacking in the field it works like a charm.

I believe he wants to raise/lower his camera for framing, not step his camera toward the subject.

Something along the lines of http://www.edmundoptics.com/optomechani ... sitioners/

Indeed I want to raise / lower my camera. I also want to keep using my current tripod (Gitzo GT2541-EX) which I like a lot.

A vertical stage could be an option, but you will need quite some additional adapters to mount it on the tripod, as these are usually equipped with metric screw holes.
