What you can do with one eurocent

Post by pjoris »

At last a use for one eurocent coins ... I notice I can get a nice darkfield by putting a eurocent on to the lower lens of the olympus swing out condenser. That way I can get darkfield up to 20x. But more surprising to me was the somewhat "DIC-like" effect I get with my 40x objective.

BTW can somebody confirm the lower picture is a shelled amoeba ? Species/Genus possible ? (Also of the diatom ?)

Equipment: Olympus BH2-BHT, SPlan 20x and 40x objective, swing-out condenser, eyepiece adapter from ebay, Pentax K20D, and of course a 1 eurocent coin.
