I had been taking macro shots in sunlight, in my garden, at up to x3 and wandered back towards the house to check on timing for an appointment. Then an unexpected sight greeted me. A springtime butterfly fluttered onto my (reddish variety) Buddleia and gave me just time for one shot, having frantically refocused/changed the working distance. It was a male Brimstone butterfly. They are supposed to, potentially, fly in any month from March to September, except July!
The image is uncropped. I left it slightly dark to show the rich textures and colour. I did not realise it was feeding (proboscis is horizontal) until I processed the image.
E-P2 Tamron f2.5 90mm macro plus Marumi +3 (superfluous) 1/1250* at f8, ISO 400. * My wayward exposure compensation button giving an underexposure, requiring considerable brightening.

My images are a medium for sharing some of my experiences: they are not me.
