Lovely shot Ken, this really shows the diversity of just 1 species/genus
Microscope: Watson Barnett Bactil
Camera: Kodak DX7440 (not SLR, no attachment for the microscope, i just hold it over the lens and pray :()

Yep there are a lot of different species of Arcella, these here are the most common ones that I find around here. Thanks Kite! :D

Hi Ken, I might be wrong but I think I once read that Arcellas start out with clear tests and as they get older they absorb some sort of mineral which makes them darker in color. Have you heard that?

Yep I sure have Tom. They say the darker the test the older the Arcella :D

oooh, thats interesting to know, thanks Tom.

In that case I found an archaeic one the other day :D it was very dark brown indeed, and I didnt get my normally wonderful colour show with a darkfeild condenser either.
