270EX for macro - improved

Post by orionmystery »

My previous post is here: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=13259

Issues encountered with the old method:

1. shadows on lower part of the subject
2. dim catch light

Sample shots from the improved method. I think both the shadow and dim catch light problems are resolved!

The solution was the turn the 270EX upside down / belly up! Like this:

Now I can just click the flash head to take care of the different working distances at different magnification!

That looks like a cheap and easy alternative to the MT24 twin light rig. Now if you can move the flash L and R for direction control it's a winner.

Is the Front Mount Flash Bracket a Canon item?

That is honestly one of the BEST jumping spider pictures i've EVER seen (and I've viewed probably thousands). WOW

Thank you, Mark, Chris, yeatzee.

Mark, the FMMB is adjustable to handle portrait and landscape orientation :)

Chris - the FMMB is a DIY item.
