Before the days of dedicated flash, OTF, TTL, etc. I used a very flexible flash unit for two manual guns with my Canon A1. By changing the angles of the joints on the arms I could centre the light at various positions for distances/magnifications form 1:10 down to 1:1. This I calibrated and marked with colour coding on the bracket joints, with magnification/aperture settings (for ISO 25) on the ring, mostly all lost now, after 20 years or more.

I think I picked up a spare set a couple of years ago. I may need to use this for Olympus T series flash on manual with My EP-2. NB, when using dedicated flash guns on the unit, which pre-dated dedicated ones, you need to place insulation (I used electrical tape) in each hotshoe and link the guns by their own system cables/cords.
