Moth ID?

Post by scitch »

This moth is a little beat up and the picture isn't very good, but I hoped to get an ID to figure out what that lump is on the back of its neck. Looks strange at high magnification, but needed low mag for ID.

This stack was taken with my OEM lens reversed on the Sony Alpha.

"This moth is a little beat up"
I 'm curious as to what a moth that was badly beat up would look like

” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”
