Hello
Beautiful photographs
Stentor is an interesting ciliate.
The shape of the nucleus seems to agree with S. coeruleus

Arturo,

Really excellent views of the macronucleus here, especially in the last two! Don't recall seeing it that clearly before.

Very nice pictures, especially for a point and shoot. I am curious how it was mounted to the scope?

Mitch was asking:

How do you fix your (relatively) simple camera to your microscope?

I ask, because I am still seeing better images from cheap point and shoot cameras than I get from my several thousand dollar Canon Pro body. It's depressing, and it can't even shoot video. Smile

Thanks cyclops rogelio rumbert!

Mitch:
unfortunately i've not an adaptor for compact camera becouse i think i think too expensive for this kind of camera...
then the simple way to make shot is to hold in hand the camera near eyepiece..whit other hand i focusing sample....this is really what I do and now, after so many shots it's quite normal for me!
i add some info: to get contrast and focusing images i put to max illumination the 100w lamp and set the camera shutter for 1/1000-1/1250 sec. (manual use), this way the images will be free of blur, diafragm 4,5 and zoom lens half of max extension!
hope this help you and forgive my bad english!
have a good day to all!
Arturo

Thanks Arturo. Your english is much, much better than my Italian. Wink

I have just ordered a Canon SX130 IS and will find some way to mount it to the eyepiece. I already have a Canon "handycam" that I was able to mount on my DSLR tripod and get it positioned right to shoot down through one of the eyepieces. This did work, fairly well. I will try it with the new camera. I also have an idea to use some 2 part epoxy to mold an adapter out of, that will fit the extended lens on the camera and the end of the eyepiece, in one single piece. This should work pretty well if I can keep the sticky stuff off the parts. Smile

Great shots - especially hand-held!

I used a compact camera (Canon Powershot S50) for some time and made an adapter. See
