Hello World!
Here is a hatching egg with a looper caterpillar emerging.
After stumbling upon this egg batch, I took the leaf inside and waited few days (taking photos once a day or so). After 3-4 days when I arrived home I realized that some are already hatched. Took my gear (Canon 7D + MP-E 65 + Canon 430 EX II Flash with paper kitchen towel diffuser) and took bunch of photos at about 4x magnification while one of the remaining caterpillars is emerging (Camera was hand-held while the end of the lens leaned against the table)
I also took a video with a bright LED light, but I still need to stabilize the video before posting since it's pretty shaky due to lack of the tripod in my setup.

You get the lovely colours with that one empty case at the frontcozdas wrote:AndrewC,
I think you are right. I kinda liked the colors caused by the interference thus decided to keep some of the background but I agree that it makes the image too busy.
I'll make another version with a different crop.
Thanks for the feedback.

Excellent, love the BG too.
I wonder, do they eat their way out of the shell or burst out on that seam?
