This is a statoblast from a marine Moss animal (Bryozoa cfr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryozoa).
The inner (dark) part was 250 µm long.
Objective 20x DIC, stack with 16 pictures.

Yes, a beautiful image.

Mitch: remember there are also freshwater species. They are quite common in my lake samples. At first glance they look like a plant seed, even perhaps a large testate amoeba.

I will keep looking. So far, I think the only things I have seen twice are parameciums, rotifers and testate amoebas. :)
