male Rainbow Scarab (Phanaeus vindex)
Length 20mm
Found floating (dead) in a South Carolina motel pool many years ago.

105mm Micro Nikkor, f/8 on lens, 14 frames @ 1.25mm using the coarse adjustment dial on a Nikon focus block. ZS PMax.

Very cool.
Amazing that it has retained so much of its color over the 'many' years that you have kept it???

It's about 30 years old but kept in the dark which helps to preserve colours.
The black parts are likely true colours, the other colours are likely not true colours but interference colours.

It's the same effect as the colours you get with an oil film on water. Caused by a thin layer roughly the same thickness as the wavelength of light on top of a reflective layer
