Some life from a reef tank

Post by simonbos »

Here are a couple of my first attempts at photographing some of the microlife from my reef tank. I would appreciate it if anyone has any IDs for these organisms.

Thanks,
Simon

Welcome Simon!

I'm not one for great ID's, especially salt water species. But I'll take a general "stab" at two of them.

The top looks like a species of "seed shrimp" (ostracoda)

The bottom looks like a copepod of some type. Sorry I can't help more.

What type of set-up do you have for taking these photomicrographs?

Charles,
I used a Leitz SM-D Lux scope with a CMOS 2MP microscope camera. Photos 1 & 2 used the 40X objective and photo 3 the 10X (both are Leitz objectives).

Cheers,
Simon
