these guys are really something,,a fierce predator for sure,, the bee was still alive and moving when I took these,, the Robber protruded right behind the head,, what a way to go !!!!

Wonderfull shots there, and such a mean looking fly. I guess they are called robber flies because they grab other flies from the air, oddly I would have thought things like scorpion flies deserver the name more as they grab other insects lunch, this guy should be called a werewolf fly as it looks big hairy and mean and pounces just as quickly they do in the horror films.

Excellent capture!!

I guess the 2nd is just a crop of the first - because it looks quite over sharpened. Anyway, the first pic is perfect.

Yes,, you are correct,, I did very little sharpening on the original shot and was kinda suprised at how it did look oversharpened on the crop,, kinda weird ,, thanks both of you for commenting !!
