Swedish dragonflies

Post by Erland R.N. »

I've been with seven fellow photographers on a four day trip to Sweden.
I photographed three species of dragonflies that are extinct in Denmark.

Three pictures, all uncropped, Canon 5D, Sigma 150.

Image
Leucorrhinia caudalis, Lilypad Whiteface, male.

Image
Leucorrhinia albifrons, Dark Whiteface, male.

Image
Onycogomphus forcipatus, Small Pincertail, male at the end of emergence.

The last "river-species" was emerging in great numbers when we arrived at the Mörums Åen, a famous fishing location in southern Sweden.

The two first have an eastern distribution in Europe. Whitefaces are small dragonflies, but wery wary and hard to approch. So I'm really glad I got some pictures.

cheers
Erland
(I may not promtly reply to answers, as I'm off on another Dragonfly-trip the next ten days :D )

That sounds like a wonderfull trip there Erland !! I've never seen dragons like those even in pictures. Really like #3 and the bokeh in #2
