Green bug on an orange cactus flower

Post by Roy Patience »

Image

I started out Saturday photographing a cactus flower that had just opened. The weather was perfect with thick, high clouds obviating the need for a diffuser. Moments after taking a series of images to try stacking, a cute little green bug landed on the edge of the bloom. I quickly switched into ultra close-up mode. This one was taken with a 100mm Rodagon enlarger lens reversed on Nikon PB-6 bellows.

The saturation looks a little intense. I don't know what caused that, I only adjusted levels to "stretch' the histogram.

I love that beautiful orange color Roy. It looks like the bug was hanging out in the pollen
