D100 Capture software

Post by augusthouse »

I've been looking at capture software for remotely controlling the camera (D100 at the moment) from the PC such as Adobe Lightroom or Nikon Capture NX and did hear off-hand that Nikon capture software doesn't support MLU when tethered to the DSLR via USB; not sure about Lightroom in regard to this matter.

Still looking into these aspects.... Any input would be appreciated.

Re Lightroom:

Adobe say that Lightroom 1.4 update has several bugs and you should
uninstall it, reverting to version 1.3.1.

Thanks Harold,
Yep, I caught that one before it got through. I am running a demo of 1.3.1.

OK, so Adobe Lightroom and Nikon Capture NX are for post-production and Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 is for remote camera control.

Initial tests show that MLU (anti-shock) is working in Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 contrary to a rumour that I remember hearing recently. Good!

Another piece of post-production software I have been exploring is Capture One 4 by PhaseOne.

If you download the demo of Capture One 4.01 (new version, the update to Pro version to be released soon...) also download the tutorial video.

PhaseOne's licencing program is also unique and refreshing. This is a serious piece of software - but I've only just begun to explore its potential. :?:

While you're at it you may want to check out their digital backs and camera systems.
