1909 Bausch & Lomb

Post by Gary W Brown »

I thought it would be interesting to show you the microscope that was used to make the photo. This is a pap smear slide as viewed through the 1909 Bausch & Lomb microscope (SN 76508). The photo was taken using a Nikon Coolpix 950 with a 10X eyepiece (not original but special for the coolpix) and a 10X objective which is original. Lighting is reflected sunlight using the mirror with the microscope aperature wide open. There is no condenser and the apperature disc is missing. I think the image is pretty good considering the rough life this microscope had in a high school lab for 60 years. Gary
