That's a happy hopper!

The line of focus in the first image gives us a definite sense of perspective; the colours, intricate detail and textures provide mood and a sense of place. The composition is alluring.

I'm intrigued by the way you have used the light in the first image, particularly in regard to the flower; was it natural light or an off-camera flash? The lilac glow above the flower is also very interesting and appears to be the result of a 'bounce' effect emitted from within the flower itself. This is a beautiful photograph.

All natural light. It was about seven p.m. (you can see it under photographs - 24-hour clock notation) so sun was pretty close to the horizon.
On the second pic this guy is mainly in the shadow - except knees. :lol:
