Tips on Buying a Microscope

Post by Robert Berdan »

I posted an article today on my site that I hope will be helpful to those wanting to buy a microscope. I covered compound, stereo, and inverted microscopes. I discuss topics about used vs new Chinese microscopes, what to look for based on my experience including how to evaluate used microscopes.

I invited several other experienced microscope users and one microscope sales person to give their suggestions and hope that this article might be valuable to newcomers and more experienced users.

I have linked to many science papers and reviews for those that want more in-depth information and for those that don't like to read I have linked to numerous videos.

Below are some pictures from the article - there are also lots of equipment pictures. My goal is to try and get more people interested in microscopy.

I welcome any suggestions for improving the article.

Nice article, I think it will -like the rest of your beautiful website- get more people curious and interested in our hobby.
And nice you added that picture of your first toy microscope.
