Jolly good! <clap clap>

Where do you find such circuits? Are they inside chips and do you have to remove the housing?

Why don't you photograph the whole chip?

Chips

Post by Olympusman »

I decapsulate the chips with Nitric Acid after removing them from the circuit boards with a heat gun. I had previously shot wider areas of these same chips, but since I have been exploring 100X oil immersion on my metallurgical scope, I have been shooting closer detailed areas. Also, some chips are filled mainly with large areas of RAM, which is not that interesting until you get to higher magnifications. In addition, some of the older chips that perform simple functions do not have as much intricate detail as others.
