Desmids

Sometimes when you leave a jar of pond water on a sunny windowsill, you find rafts of dark green or dark brown algae. I sampled one of these rafts and found them to be loaded with desmids.

Thanks everybody.
Darkfield illumination with a home made spider stop in the condenser filter holder with a 20X objective. Four sets of stacks stitched together in Microsoft ICE.

The peculiar thing about this spider stop on a 20X objective, is tat it leaks bright light from around the edges, resulting in the pleasing "relief" effect.
