Diatom

Post by Roel Wijtmans »

Now I really started to take pictures with my microscope, which is a lot of fun. But it also raises more questions than my brain can answer.... One of those is what is going on with this diatom, what are the appendices it is carrying around?

Also, since I am a newbie at identifying all this small stuff, is there a website or book you can recommend with a photo guide to the various groups of plankton that can be found? I searched the web for a whole day, and still have some critters that I don't know what they are called. It would be fun to learn more about them.

Looks like the leftover debris of a micro-wine-tasting party.

A wine-tasting party, that's a good one! Has to be some champagne mixed in, some of the glasses have bubbles in them after all.
