Self correcting microscope

Post by perdu34 »

It's been a few years since I left the filed of microscopy but I still dip in from time to time. As I stuck my toe in to Pubmed today I came across this new paper in Science. I was totally blown away by how much things have changed in the last ten years!

While this technique is way out the of reach of most individuals (the lasers alone would cost $400k) I do think there are some ideas that can be applies to macrophotography.

Has anyone tried mapping the distortions of their macro setup so it can be corrected? If you have, how did you do it? Did you create a custom profile in Lightroom and apply that?

I've seen some great experiments on here where people have compared the details of their images from different set ups they have, but I don't think I've seen any empiric measurements of distortions.
