Cross Polarized Trollius stem

Post by micro_pix »

This slide was in a box of botanical slides by Ernie Ives. It's a transverse section of the stem of a Trollius (Mountain Globe Flower). There was no stacking but it is stitched from 14 images and it is under crossed polarizers.

Thanks for the comments. Software like that would be a great way to catalogue important slide collections for access over the internet.

Thanks. In large part the quality of the hi-res image is testament to the skills of Mr. E. Ives, it’s not often you get such a perfectly flat, thin section. The combination of the staining and cross polarized lighting make it look a bit like a confocal image.
