Looking for Olympus BX50 manual (PDF)

Post by enricosavazzi »

As the title says, I need a PDF of the BX50 manual. I was already able to find the manuals of models as close as BX51, as well as BX4* and BX6*. I also found a BX40/BX50 brochure (useful, but not what I need).

I had exactly the same problem - and failed to find one.

The only help I can give is a link to a Czech language version.

I assume that the illustrations will be the same and by comparing this with the BX40 or BX51 you can infer the text.

Unless you speak Czech, of course.

Thanks, it is a good start. At least now I have a chance to see whether the BX50 differs in some significant way from other models (a first check of the manual illustrations suggests it is not).

I stopped when the registration procedure asked for my credit card data. That is the red line for me when filling a "free registration" form. It is of course not the first time I see this, but still there is no good reason why they would want to have my card details if I am not going to pay for anything.

Unfortunately there are several sites applying these practices.

There is a reason, although it isn't good

Sorry, I've not attempted to register, if not I wouldn't have post the link

Interesting, I happen to have a 48-page BX53 manual, which is one of many BX files I downloaded recently. I can privately share it with any member who may be interested, although it can be found by googling.

However, from the manual I can see that the BX53 base has several differences from the BX 50 (different types and placement of electronic controls, levers for built-in filters, shape of the base etc).

As a latest update, I still failed to find the BX50 manual in English. A link to the Czech manual is available in a preceding post, and my BX50 came with the original Japanese manual on paper.

Judging from manuals available online, the BX40 is the closest model to the BX50. The only significant difference I am aware of is the illuminator (the BX50 comes with 100W 12V halogen illuminator, while the BX40 uses a smaller lamp, illuminator casing, and probably also illuminator attachment) and the BX50 has a rear connector for the illuminator cable that is missing in the BX40. So the BX40 manual is probably the best to use as a replacement for the BX50 manual, except for the parts dealing with the bottom illuminator which can be found e.g. in the BX51 manual.

My BX50 also has no 110/240V AC switch at the rear. I don't know whether this is a 240V-only model, or the power supply automatically switches voltage. In any case, I am not going to connect it to 110V AC any time soon.

I think I have a hard copy in the loft somewhere, next time I'm up there I'll see if I can find it and scan it in
