I have three videos made up about focus stacking on my new little youtube channel now.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3X3V0 ... subscriber

The one about measuring depth of field is only half done with no words, but the other three are notionally finished.

I wondered if anyone might have any thoughts on them if you had time to look?

I put a great big plug for this forum on the acknowledgements slide at the end.

Thanks to anyone who has time to look. They all have subtitles, if that is any use.

I'm making my videos about how to build my focus stacking system. :-)

I've been asked to put the logo of the funding bodies and universities on the finishing slide, and I wondered if you would like to have a logo from this forum and website on it since this is where I learned how to do it all? I thought it would be lovely to fly the flag a bit. :-)

This is my little youtube channel:

The video about automation is mostly done and the other one is just a first draft with no words added yet.

Thanks!

Great work Jen. Very informative and easy to follow video. The sound of shutter sequence was a nice touch :)

Thanks :-) I'm glad you think they are okay.

Putting the shutter sound in was hilarious, because the camera in the video is a film SLR standing in as a dummy, while i shot the video with my DSLR. I had to edit in the shutter sound in afterwards. I'll never believe anything I see on tv again. :-)

Do you think the speed of my speech is okay? I don't want to go too fast and make people's brains overheat, but I also worry that it may be too slow and be like watching paint dry. I find it hard to judge watching myself. Do you have any notion of whether it is right?

Personally i think the speed was fine. Good clear voice.
What can be annoying in videos is if it goes too fast so i have to back-up and replay sections. For technical stuff slower is better in my opinion.

I've moved the youtube channel to a new place so that it is no longer associated with my personal email address now. This is the new one if you would like to subscribe again.

Thanks for subscribing btw. That was the first time that had happened. :-)

Subbed. :D
I think its a great idea with this type of channel. Most microscope photo/video channels only show the end-result but not explaining the background and what is involved in the process.

My youtube channel is coming along now and has four videos finished on it. It's visitable via www.chlorophyllosophy.uk if anyone would like to see or comment.

I've also now got my 5x and 20x lenses, with the 50x one still in the post. I'm starting photographing Utricularia gibba traps, and Arabidopsis trichomes now, alongside my fern gametophytes. Yay!

I have some photos. I wondered if you would like to see? They are just first attempts with different lenses, and also a new plant.

Interesting.

I guess you've seen these:

?

You would need a membership of the magic circle and £x00k light sheet microscope for those, though. I have a few of his originals, printed at full res A2 in "my" classroom.

Gosh! I'll pass those on to my Utricularia collaborator. Thanks!

We've just changed the system to a wired camera trigger that should allow mirror lockup.

When I say "we", I mean my husband did it. :-)

If you enjoy the process of building the software and everything then go ahead and ignore me ;)

But if you just want to be rolling along, why not use one of the several already made arduino projects for focus stacking? Here is the one I wrote, I know there are others floating around too. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=28391
