Spyrogyra nucleus

Post by Linden.g »

I found trying to image the nucleus very challenging as it's deep inside the cell and often masked by the chloroplasts. Focus stacked, 40x S-Plan APO DIC flash

Very nice!

Does stereo rendering of the nucleus add anything good?

Hi Rik, what would be the minimum number of steps i would need to render the stereo view

There's no hard-and-fast number. I've seen good results from 20-ish frames. More important is the physical aspect ratio of the subject, depth:width. As that drops below 1:10 or so, the depth gets harder and harder to see.

Use the formulas at https://zerenesystems.com/cms/stacker/d ... wing_angle to calculate what shift % you need, based on your subject dimensions and viewing angles.

That's a fantastic image, Linden.g! 8)

Since Rik brings it up, how wonderful a 3-D look at it sounds. I love those Zerene synthetic cross-eye stereo images, really makes the this whole digital revolution worth the bother...

Thanks for the additional information on viewing angle and step estimation Rik. I need to have another go at imaging the nucleus.
