I used the "Share" URL? Wonder if its something to do with a Mac which is what I'm using?

Nope. I can only:
Slideshow
Magnify (full screen)
Wow !
Report (only available option in the "Other menu")
Photo info

Tried with IE - same thing ...

I can't zoom or download Saul's gall either.
This one should have a download option, lower left, where Saul's just says "Slide Show"

I went through the same route (logged off) to the all 3 photos - only Chris photo can be downloaded. Now, the funniest part - in order to download it I had make n+1 steps/clicks ...

My dear Nikon, I'm using your camera ... Sad

Cannot zoom your photo also ...

I think your original assessment of Nikon's software is correct. Here's mine,

"Even if Nikon's software is free, it's highly overpriced!!"

Here's a screen shot, no sign of any download or zoom capability or enabling.

I think somewhere should be a hidden check box, which allows/restricts downloading.
