Elaeomyxa cerifera (Myxomycete)
This species has a characteristic ring of wax around the top of the stalk. The thin-film irdescence occurs consistently as bands of different colours, possible due to a consistent variation in the peridial membrane thickness. In other collections, the bands vary in colour.
MPE65, Canon 70D, Single flash
A lovely shot and great stereo pair!
Myxo’s were the gateway drug that introduced me to stacking. A pal at the Rockford astronomy club was stacking them and brought in some images that he shared. I had no clue that stacking existed, (or that Myxo’s existed either) but when I saw his photos I knew I had to do this.

Thank you very much for your kind words everyone .
I have photographed around 150 of the approx 1000 species discovered, so I still have someway to go.. unless my family stage an intervention in the meantime (although they seem OK with it so far).
