Edmund's 10X budget objective - Melanostoma sp - Syrphidae

Post by Yawns »

Few days ago I asked for help about an affordable 10X finite here https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/ ... highlight=

thank you for all that replied and tried to help.

I got the Edmund's Nikon 10x 0,25 (Still waiting for Bausch & Lomb)
The listed price in the European site is 89€ .. but the final bill was 140€ after shipment by UPS and the VAT... be careful if you buy a "Mitty" there .. VAT is not included ( I pay 23%)

So here is my first decent result after a 3-4 quite disappointing experiments (my fault,... )

I'm very happy .. exactly what I was looking for and suits me very well (I'm realistic about my budget...)

Thank you all who helped...
:)

-------

- Mind you it's used at almost half of the native optimal magnification.
- Mind you this is a budget ACHRO objective, costing at least 6-8X less than an APO or Fluorite.
- Mind you the subject is difficult .. the animal is golden plated .. not yellow or textured like normal flies do. Even the face is golden, not the usual white.

On Flickr the picture expands to full size.

This is a tricky one.. the animal is golden plated.. not yellow... even the head is golden.

A decent objective in good hands does wonders...better than a Mitty in bad ones :D
Congratulations

Great shot Yawns and thanks for all the information. I have been considering this lens plus the 5x.
