Looking for help on equiptment~

Post by Quantumized »

I am looking into doing macro stacking with a microscope optic attached to my Canon 80D. Similar to this photo from this website found on google.

I am looking for information on the attachments from the lens forward. Where to find the tube/how it affects the image. If the tube needs to be a different length for different microscope optic ends.

My current set up is a 50mm prime with 3 extension tubes.

Mat, welcome aboard! :D

I'd suggest you have a look at "FAQ: How can I hook a microscope objective to my camera?". There is a wealth of useful information in the thread, and the image you reference appears to be the seventh picture down from the top in Rik Littlefield's initial post.

In that particular arrangement, there is no additional tube in between zoom lens and microscope objective. What looks like a tube is just the zoom lens, fully zoomed out.

If you still have questions after you read that FAQ, fire away!

Cheers,

More than one person has been tripped up by that...

Hopefully, not so many more. I've just now added a clarification about that:
Note that there are no extension tubes in this setup. What may look like a tube is just the front section of the telephoto lens, which is zoomed out to its maximum length of 200 mm.
