Excellent stereo!

As often happens, I am clueless about shape from a single image, and then with stereo I understand immediately.

This one is especially good because there is so much fine detail to lock onto.

Thanks for your answers! I totally agree that stereo often is way more than a gimmick and reveals a lot of additional information.

Here's a auliscus fenestratus (i hope) with the same setup, this time using all color channels:

Outstanding images. The stereo is amazing. Is that a diatom simply sitting on a slide?

Very, very nice! The "glass-like" appearance is great.

Thanks for posting. For me the stereo really helped understanding the shape of the diatom.

Thanks a lot for your encouraging comments!
I was also really happy with the glass-like appearance, as with incident light I try to display the diatoms as if they are lying in front of you in the table and you can "touch" them.
@James - yes, the diatoms are lying dry, no coverglass on a slide.

Sometimes, classic transmitted light is beautiful, too (ok, the image is inverted and tinted, but the rest is straight forward transmitted light):
edit: completely forgot, light is a bit oblique...
