Hi,
Just learned from Yawns in this thread (http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=35424) that ping pong balls can be used for diffusion og Jansjo lamps. Well, I have a couple of those. But since getting 2 Schott KL 1500 LCD I´ve used those instead. But the light is very harsh. So I desided to test ping pong balls.
Went to the local sport shop and bought the cheapest I could to test. Drilled 6mm holes in them and attached them to the fibre optics, works like a charm.
But I was thinking, whats the difference between cheap and pro balls?
I can tell you that it´s the thickness of the wall. Got myself one of those Stiga *** Champion balls. Drilled hole and measured the light with my Minolta Flashmeter IV. There is 1 f-stop greater light in the Stiga balls and diffusion the same...
Kind Regards
Harald
