I was in Seattle, and saw an interesting ornamental plant in someone's yard.

Any ideas what it is?

That's a lovely specimen of Cotinus coggygria also known as Smoke tree or smoke bush. It's one of my all time favorite ornamentals, especially the dark red/purple cultivars.

It looks like a plant that will leave a big fluffy mess in the yard. Also the neighbors yard.
