It seems to be doing a caddis fly impersonation. It was found in Sandakan Borneo where there were a great many that would crawl around on stems of plants, or on wooden boards of houses huts or fences etc. It did not seem that they were plant specific as there were so many of them.
I guess it is a sawfly larvae but i cannot find anything like it from google searches, or any terrestrial larvae that does the same?
