Dragonfly in flight, and others

Post by tpe »

This was a bit of an odd one. It was dusk, and pretty dark, all I could see was a white flash, of a constantly moving white dragonfly. I had never seen a white dragonfly before, nor one that was out so late. I think i was lucky to get it, using manual focus and guessing when it would get into the focus plane as it flew past, fortunately on almost the same path over and over again. Out of about 30 shots this was the best.

These look like Asian species.

Some nice images.

Interesting blue reflections on the bi-color damsel and the last one especially.

Thanks for sharing.

I won't know the species from over there, but here there are dragonflies that are known to fly at dusk.

The white dragonfly could be newly emerged … they take several days to reach full colouration and colours continue to develop throughout their adult life cycle.

And now for something completely different.
