U.S. $5 bill infrared watermark

Post by Olympusman »

Take two. The U.S. $5 bill has infrared watermarks. They manifest themselves as dull bands running from top to bottom just off-center and to the elft. You can see hem in "The United States" and in the shrubbery at the bottom.

There is also a UV stripe on the front and the back visible with a UV flashlight, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to photograph it.

Here's a shot I did about a month ago... I suspended the bill by the ends, lit the top with visible light, and shone a high power UV light at the underside of the bill.

Not the greatest quality, but I was about a week into photomacrography.

VERY good. Never thought of dual lighting.
