Gang
Found this guy yesterday and I think it is a Rough stink bug thanks to
Rik and Chris S for "pointing" me in the right direction (pun intended; see
below).

Nice images.
But I strongly doubt that this is a brown marmorated stink bug. On all the closeup images I have seen of brown marmorated, the spines in the pits are much smaller, so small that they are difficult to see. On yours they are so obvious that they dominate the texture. Your bug also has "teeth" next to the head and on the sides and front of the snout that appear far too big. On other pictures that I see of brown marmorated, those areas appear smooth, not jagged.
But since you have the whole bug in hand, take a look at http://rodaleinstitute.org/wp-content/u ... Bug600.jpg and see how your bug matches up against their list of identifying features.

Agreed, quite nice images, but not of a brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys). Wish I didn't know so well what these actually look like, but have killed many hundreds as they reach epidemic populations in Ohio and seek entry to our homes as a warm place to over-winter. One of this summer's projects will be to climb onto the roof and cover our chimneys and bathroom vents with fine screen, as these openings seem to be prime entry-ways. Once inside the house, this bug apparently releases a pheromone that travels out through any air-leaks, providing other members of the species a road map to follow.

I stand in error! Not the first time and NOT the last. Recall I did post a
Brown Marmorated a while back, and something in my head thought I had
one. The previous ones were given to me from a friend that moved from
Virginia, and they were in their moving materials.
So, it looks like I have a Rough stink bug, based on the features, such as
pointy spines, etc., but I cannot find an exact match.
Thank you, Masters, for catching this.

Stink Bug
The Brown Mamorated Stink Bug is not cobered with setae (hairs or bristles) and can also be ID'd by shiny green pits on the the underside of the thorax. Chris R and I are very familiar with them because we are essentially plagued by the little monsters in our homes.
Stink bugs or shield bugs are in an order of about 7,000 species, so getting a positive ID will be a daunting task. Those pointy projections at the "shoulders" are interesting since most of the shield bugs I have found only have one on each side.
