True Weevils belong to the Family: Curculionidae and are readily recognized by their long 'snout',
In E North America there are a few other families of beetles that resemble Curculionids and go by the common name of 'weevils'.
One such family (Anthribidae - Fungus Weevils) is 'weevil-like' but has a short snout. These are uncommonly collected beetles with poorly known natural histories. Lucky to find this one recently. Did photograph it 'in nature' but image lacked detail.
Possibly Marbled Fungus Weevil (Euparius marmoreus), but there is a very similar species (E. paganus)

Quote – Holmes on ‘Entomology’
” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”
