Thanks Carlos & Gary!

Due to a resolution discussion at the german forum, I made a comparision between the areolae of Pinnularia neomajor and Amphipleura pellucida. Amphipleura was in fact easier to resolve and has larger pore distances, so I thought this is worth sharing.

Good heavens, I've been staring at diatoms as the main course for a few years now, and this is the first time I've ever seen areolae on Pinnularia depicted, SEM imagery or otherwise!
